Wanting to shed some light on what I still think is Mura Masa’s best work (video)
[Quick note: I called Soundtrack to a Death a beat tape when it’s actually labelled as a “mix tape”. I still think it’s worthy of being called an “album”]
So now that Mura Masa seems to be blowing up with his debut album that’s out now, I figured it was a good time to talk about his debut “mix tape”, Soundtrack to a Death. I don’t think I went as in-depth into the record as I wanted to, but I definitely had some things I wanted to get of my chest about his latest record. So I decided to kill to birds with one stone: talk about my disappointment with the stuff I’ve heard so far, while also recommending an album that I still feel like best represents what the kid is capable of.
Hopefully, this doesn’t land me in too much hot water.
