Badbadnotgood’s entry into the on-going Late Night Tales compilation series (audio/video)
In case you forgot, I called Badbadnotgood’s 2016 album IV my favorite album of the year. That album pretty much covered all the bases of musical genres that I listen to: jazz, rock, electronic, soul, post-rock, funk and everything in between. So when I found out the Toronto-based quartet was putting together a Late Night Tales compilation, my ears perked up. For those of you unfamiliar with Late Night Tales, it’s in on going series where the label asks an artist (or group in this situation) to basically make a late night mix tape of some of their favorite bands and artists. Given the wide scope that BBNG is known for, I figured these guys would have a hell of a track list for this compilation and while it doesn’t quite go as deep as I would’ve liked, it’s hard to fault them for an otherwise flawless selection of music spanning every genre you can think of. In this case, the band even went a step further and recorded a cover of a Canadian artist to not only show off their musical prowess, but also show off the great music that Canada has to offer.
In any case, if you’re looking for a collection of tunes that you might not be familiar with and want to increase your musical pallet I highly recommend you check out this collection. Also check out this mini-documentary/EPK to get a little background into what went into the creation of this excellent looking compilation.
