Dispel any preconceived notion you have of being a working-class musician; the struggle is real (video)
I think it’s pretty easy, especially in this day and age of social media, to get this idea in our heads that being a producer/rapper/musician/whatever is fame and glory. Adult Rappers, an hour long documentary from Fandependent Films, completely obliterates that idea with numerous interviews talking about what it’s really like to be a working-class artist in this day and age. Tales of defeat, burn out, trying to reinvigorate that creative spark, and ultimately a final message for the upcoming generation detail an all to real story that generally gets glossed over. Though that description might sound depressing, it’s a far more uplifting documentary than you might think. If you’ve got an hour to kill, definitely give this a watch!
Shouts out to The Fader Magazine for putting me onto this.
