Absolute, dub madness! (audio)
45Seven is a record label out of Jamaica I’ve been eyeballing a lot recently. There’s something about their dub-centric approach to drum n’ bass, with plenty of reggae of course in there for good measure that feels like the perfect middle ground between these two loves of mine (I will eventually get back to some good reggae but more on that later).
Anyway this new release from 45Seven comes from this producer E3, who decided to turn the dub dial all the way up to eleven, because these are some truly smoked-out vibes going on here. Tons of echo and reverb, with a surprising Turkish music sample that at first I wasn’t sure if I was just imagining things but eventually caught it (I won’t spoil it here though). It’s hard, heavy, deep, and dubby, which are all basically characteristics that I look for from this label, so this newest release doesn’t disappoint.
I definitely recommend checking out some of their other tracks on their soundcloud, or hunting down their 45s for some forward-thinking, retro-style music!
