One of the best live recordings from Squarepusher and Co. yet! (video)

Squarepusher’s output really grabbed my attention as of late. Something about his sound from Hello Everything onward has just sounded, for lack of a better word, cheap. That being said, I really like the way his old productions are sounding with his live band. Over the course of this 20 minute live set, they run through 3 tracks: “Hello Meow”, and the classics ” A Journey To Reedham” and “E8 Boogie”. All three tracks keep the general sound, melody, and atmosphere of the originals intact but with energy of a live band. What has to be commended is how tight these guys are; seemingly no one misses a cue and are as tight as a studio recorded band would sound. Yet, they don’t sound so perfect that it would defeat the purpose of a live recording. I really hope this is the direction that Squarepusher continues to take his music, as I would love to hear/see some new compositions from these guys. Definitely worth a watch (especially the drummer).
